FAQs

Bienvenue! Primrose is a neighborhood French-American restaurant with a focus on natural wines and French brandies.

What is Natural Wine?
Natural Wine is farmed organically (biodynamically, using permaculture or the like) and made (or rather transformed) without adding or removing anything in the cellarNo additives or processing aids are used, and ‘intervention’ in the naturally occurring fermentation process is kept to a minimum. As such neither fining nor (tight) filtration are used. The result is a living wine – wholesome and full of naturally occurring microbiology. (Description from Raw Wine).

Where are you located? Is there parking?
We are pleased to be a part of the Brookland community of Northeast Washington, DC. From the Brookland/Catholic U metro station you can walk to us in about 10 minutes. The H8 bus drops you off right at our front door.If you drive, there is plenty of parking available around us on 12th or Hamlin streets, much of which is unzoned or 2 hours free.

Do you need a reservation?
Reservations are strongly recommended but not required for our dining room. We never reserve our bar or patio, those options are always first-come, first-serve and offer the full menu (plus happy hour specials at the bar!).

Due to our small space and kitchen, parties larger than 8 should email our events coordinator megan@primrosedc.com.

If you already have a reservation, please note that increasing your party size may not be possible. Should your party size decrease last minute, please allow us time to adjust your table accordingly. We hold reservations for 15 minutes - please call us if you are running late. Reservations are through OpenTable.

I’d like to purchase a gift card…
You can do so through GiftRocker!

Wait a minute, did you say happy hour?
Yep! Every Monday - Thursday from 5:30 - 7:30 at the bar we offer $8 wines as well as discounts on some of our most popular dishes.

Do you have a dress code?
Nope, casual is fine!

Are you kid friendly?
Absolutely! We have highchairs, kids menu options, and coloring pages. We also have a full diaper station in our restroom.

I have a dietary restriction. Can you accommodate?
We try our best to work with customers who have dietary restrictions. Due to the nature of French cuisine, it is difficult to accommodate dairy or gluten allergies. Please contact the restaurant to speak with a manager before you dine.

Do you offer food to go?
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer food to go, but you are welcome to dine with us and take your leftovers home.

Can I bring in a bottle of wine or dessert?
We encourage you to join us in our exploration of truly unique French wines, but if you would like to bring in your own there is a $20 corkage fee per bottle. This fee is waved if you also purchase a bottle from our list.
Our delicious desserts are made in house daily, but we understand you may have something extra special to celebrate. For cakes, there is a $20 cutting fee. For smaller dessert items, we charge $3 per person.

I hear you hold some great events! How can I be sure to not miss out?
Mais oui! Follow us on Facebook and Instagram to stay updated on new dishes, wines, and promotions like Wine Wednesdays and Tasting Tuesdays!

À votre santé!
